15-09-2016 Update on plans for the SNBTS site at Ellens Glen A spokesperson from the Council updated us with the following: There has been no discussion as yet for proposals on the site. In advance of this, the NHS property projects team is looking at the demolition of the site prior to marketing the site for development. It would appear that demolition of the buildings would be permitted development but may need a building warrant so in effect the buildings may be demolished before anyone knows what’s happening for the site. I assume this is to make sure there are no security/ health & safety issues with leaving vacant buildings. The size of the site or the number of houses will determine what route the application will take. For example, if it’s for more than 50 houses then it would be a major application and there would need to be formal pre-application discussion with the local community. Otherwise, there is no obligation (although it is good practice) to discuss the proposals before submitting a formal application and people would make representations on the application. It does seem to be at early stages. Certainly the site is allocated for housing in the local development plan so housing proposals shouldn’t be a surprise.
